Fundación Telefónica, in collaboration with the RIZOMA Festival, welcomes Laurie Anderson, who is visiting the space on the occasion of the presentation of her Chalkroom installation.

“Visual artist, composer, poet, artist, photographer, filmmaker, singer, instrumentalist and electronics guru, the author of “O Superman” Laurie Anderson is already a living legend. With her minimalist creations with a social and gender background, Laurie has managed to portray the world in her work from unimaginable perspectives, getting into the technological and multimedia in a continuous research on the future and new ways of creation”.

Chalkroom is a virtual reality installation that is coming to Spain for the first time having won the “Best VR Experience” award at the 74th Edition of the Venice International Film Festival (2017). You can visit in the Virtual Reality Space from 16 November 2018 to 13 January 2019. It is a piece created together with the artist Hsin-Chien Huang in which the visitor is free to wander around a huge structure of words, drawings and stories that do not stop forming and transforming.

Laurie Anderson will talk about what Chalkroom is in a talk which will take place on the afternoon of 15 November. In addition, she will be present again on 16 November in another talk focused on her creative process.

The arrival of Laurie Anderson in Madrid marks the beginning of three weeks of programming of the sixth edition of the RIZOMA Festival, culminating in five days in the Madrid film library full of special releases, installations, concerts, talks and the decision on the RIZOMA film award in support of Spanish independent films. In previous editions the Rizoma Festival was attended by renowned international artists such as David Lynch, John Waters and the sculptor Tom Sachs.
