The exhibition, organized by Borusan Contemporary (Istanbul) and curated by Kathleen Forde, unveils a very personal, emotional and evocative dimension of the artist’s work. Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Biometric Abstraction presents a body of work that explores the signs of life.
All the installations in the exhibition are conceptually rooted in the body’s vital signs: the beating heart, breathing, and the keystone of human communication, the voice. The selection making up the exhibition comprises both recent work and new productions. Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (Mexico DF, 1967) is an electronic artist who creates interactive installations that fall midway between architecture and performance art. His main interest lies in creating platforms to encourage audience participation by alternating technological tools such as robotics, computerized surveillance and telematic networks.
